My Crazy Lagos Life

Nobody can adequately prepare you for life in Lagos. Just when you think you have her figured, she pulls out a new trick on you. When I first came to Lagos 14 years ago, I was repulsed by everything. The crowd, the sense of desperation that hung in the air (hello Lagos hustlers), the over familiarity of market traders ("Customer come now, I get one jeans wey go make your yansh set"), the traffic...I hated it all. But today, I can't imagine living anywhere else. I do not hesitate to call this city home because it is that and a whole lot more.

My favorite thing about Lagos has got to be the ever changing landscape. You could leave the city for two weeks and come back to find something new although not always worth exploring as I have learned and that is the point really; to live some and learn some.  My new job and my home life generally takes me to different parts of Lagos nearly every day and something interesting always pops up.

This blog is not about food, fashion, culture or leisure but you will see all of that featured here from time to time. It is about Lagos from my perspective and I am hoping that each time you come here, you will learn something new about this city. Something you might learn to love.

Lesson of the day: Lagos is the largest city in Africa without a doubt but she is the smallest state in Nigeria. Niger State is more than 20 times the size of Lagos but the number of people living in Lagos is more than three times what you have in Niger
